And Gisele is McSteamy

The gloss, the tan, the 80's power figure, the smell of cash. It's everything Versace is, with Donatella around. Of course, she perhaps no longer has one, but wouldn't you love a peek into Ms Bundchen's portfolio?

While I dismissed the Versace SS08 Menswear Ads as a bit of a safebet, Gisele and Mario have caused me to do some serious digging, and well, I've eaten my fascinator.

Gisele, (who, as we all know is the World's highest paid Supermodel) really is at her best when she's looking sexy and a little greasy. And Mario, I'm sorry what I said about you, I take it back, even if I still think you should shoot less for The AA Twins (that's Alexandra Shulman and Anna Wintour).

Many of the Ad campaigns have gone back to basics, with Balenciaga, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Fendi all adopting a bright on white outlook and ditching some of the delightfully busy campaigns from last year. However, Lanvin at least (and don't forget the gorgeously upbeat Moschino Cheap and Chic ads) provide a little Spring joy in amongst the rest of the white backgrounds that shall be filling a third of our fashion glossies.

  3. I have been looking forward to the new ad campaigns for quite some time, and am so excited to see them popping up in favorite magazines. I really like your analysis of 'bright on white.' The McDream Versace men's ads were disappointing as you say - these are much better...

  7. You're SO right about how they're going back to basics, but as simple as these pictures look, they're amazing. It's kind of new and refreshing to see pictures showing matchy outfits.

  8. Thank you so much for the compliments on my page! I think Lily Tomlin is the greatest too.

I'm really into the more ornate ads like the Lanvin... I like something sumptuous to tease my eye (and wallet)...

  21. I wish she was still face of YSL, that was the most amazing campagin in years I think, it was so moody and dark
Have you seen the newer Patrick Dempsey ads? They are a little better than the first ones but they're not that great

  22. I'm not normally a fan of Versace, but that baby blue dress is amazing. If only I have the body of Gisele to pull it off though!

  23. "really is at her best when she's looking sexy and a little greasy."

hahah that's so true, i never thought of it that way, it seems sometimes like gisele can only do sexy. she looks great in the ads though the 80s are well and truly alive!

  24. That Gisele...put her in any italian fashion and she'll make it a thousand times more orgasmic...I wish I had that effect.

  25. Gisele is made for this kind of fashion, just few seasons back she wouldn't had anything to do. But now it seems like fashion is going back to the Tom Ford -like way.
And that is sexy, bright and glamourous.

  26. I really don't like the gisele ads, mostly because they are so plain. Although plain can be wonderful, for these, the just look a little bit too plain.
