Would you like the bad news?

seriously, i didn't even for a moment anticipate this day.i know that shes pissed all over proenza schouler and christophers kane's designs recently (that's just skimming the surface.) but Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony? You must be having a laugh. I won't let you do it, piss of, woman!

Interesting how she has taken that skirt completely out of context... and made it her own.... that's not saying it's a good thing.... but just an observation...

  2. This post made me giggle. There's something about Victoria Beckham that I just don't get. I definitely don't regard her as a style icon. Some people like to copy her style which I find really strange.

  3. exactly! i agree with susie bubble. she's actually destroying it!

  4. i think if she smiled i'd think of her differently. but everything just looks off on her. she's so stiff and stone-like.

  5. posh is an alien. i think the skirt looks so much better on chlo.

  6. Heloise J:I thought susie was actually making a point about her making it her own as in a good way, which I kind of agree with in terms of style is style and it is how you make it your own that counts. but for me, this rule just doesn't count to sevigny's line, I love it too much to share with VB!

Emsie: I'm completely bewildered by this, too! I like her as a person, but when there are so many out there admiring her style, I feel like I'm missing something!

Lee: you're certainly right there, I think loosening up a bit would make because a bit more open to her, just look at the response to the MJ ads!

i actually think she looks pretty good in it. not that i'm big on vicky b or anything, but every so often she is quite chic

  10. I think Posh looks better. But, I love everything she does, eats, breathes, so I'm a little biased.

  12. And remember the time she did in Mouret? Everything she wears looks so calculated. It's just fembotic.

  17. Poor Vicky B, robots shouldn't be into fashion...

  18. Hmmmm...it's not a bad look, really (and this is coming from me, who thinks VB is ridiculous, but still).

  19. there is something fake in posh.
i have a bad feeling everytime i pop into her pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  20. She looks rather fake.

I love your humpty dumpty trouser posts. They are pretty sexy in an odd, mysterious way.

  21. i think posh looks great but then again, im not much of a critic... i have to admit - i have quite a soft spot for posh.

  22. im just not into this look. at all.

  23. I think she looks good in it!
It suits her and it is her style so why not?
I think people are too hard on Victoria, she's just enjoying fashion which is what it is for!
And I'm quite glad she wore Kane's dress, that trend needed to be killed

  24. ugh! NOT a vicky b fan!.... a chloe s fan i am!!!!!!!

  25. Even if she's not the best fashionista around, Victoria Beckham seems to be pretty picky when it's about fashion and the fact that she liked a piece of Chloe's collection is pretty good, in terms of free publicity for chloe :)

  26. Oh dear. She takes away everything that is cool about it and makes it look boring. Yes, and I hate to say it, she looks ok, but it's such a waste of a lovely skirt!

  27. OH
    by the way.
    Places to visit in NYC..
ABC Home and Carpet is a must

  28. i don't think it's awful on her- in fact it's nice and less tacky compared to what she usually wears

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, there's nothing like a bit of Victoria beckham to get us into debate mode!

I agree with many of you who said she looks okay; i didn't say she looks bad, just that I think she has a bad effect on ranges and brands, especially when what they stand for seems so far away from her own "brand". but i guess it's all down to your opinion of her.

i agree with you coco, that fashion is all about having fun, so maybe just a teeny, tiny but of me has been won over by that argument!

  31. hah.
i dont really like either, though.
chloe's line looks like osmething my friend could have sewn herself.also, its waaaayyy too expensive.and VB?well....

  32. aaaah i saw this in the paper the other day. she certainly does make it her own.

poor victoria. she never does get it quite right.

I don't agree with you AT ALL. Victoria Beckham is one of my style icons. She wears whatever she likes and is confident in whatever she wears without a care in the world about what other people think.

Isn't that what fashion and style are all about? Expressing yourself through the medium of clothes. Being unique and different and most importantly, being yourself.

So, while I respect you for having your own opinion on her personal style, I think it is highly disrespectful to say that she's "pissing on Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler."

    ReplyDelete
  34. She does not know what to do the capture the attention of media. I guess it's time for her to assume she will be nothing ever in fashion, let's face it, Posh!

im not a fan of either chloe or victoria ,but i think chloee looks better in this. not only cause it looks comfortable and fitted at the same time but victoria trys too hard all the time, nothing looks like it should be and she dresses ollddddd!

  36. lucky you being in NY. it's a shame about victoria, i love the spice girls, inc her but outside of the spice girls she just tends to bug me.

Frankly, Victoria pulls it off WAY better than Chloe. With Chloe, it looks like something out of the 90's closet. With Victoria, it spells S-T-Y-L-E.

I totally agree too with Susie Bubble.

oh, and she's bound to let the pencil skirt to chloe, is that it? All women wearing pencil skirts poivre et sel like that are chloe clones? You gotta be kidding me??!

  40. kpriss; i didn't say anything that implies I think Chloe Sevigny is responsible for the invention of the pencil skirt.
Nor did I say she is the only woman "allowed" to wear one. I was making the point that Victoria Beckham wasn't a person I had expected to see wearing a piece from the line as her "brand" is such an extreme opposite to Chloe Sevigny's.
Since posting, a bit of a debate has ensued on this one, which is great, I love for people to share their ideas, and I now hold the view that she works it to her style which is great, I just found it very funny and surprising that VB was wearing a CS for OC piece.

  41. Hmm, I don't know how anyone can use Victoria Beckham as an example of 'expressing yourself through the medium of clothes and being unique and different'. She does nothing but dress head to toe in whoever the designer of the moment is. Rather than unique and different I'd call it safe and boring!
