picture from notes by naive
yesterday was the third year anniversary of this blog. usually, I like to do something as a little nod to this occasion, but yesterday I guiltily indulged in day-off laziness, instead hanging out at home with my friend Laura, making lentil salad for lunch, filming a couple of stupid videos and listening to The Cure.
but I wanted to acknowledge this blogging birthday and say again how much pleasure and enjoyment working on this blog has brought me. besides being a constant source of inspiration and knowledge, the blogging community is also made up of so many lovely people. there are way too many people to name (I honestly wish I could, but maybe a scan through the links list would do just as well!) but I've come into contact with so many wonderful people and even met one of my best friends.
of course, there is a lot more to blogging than the blogging community; I know there are many blogs that I pore through without ever thinking to comment on. sometimes it's nice to take a step back and lose yourself in the content without feeling the need to share your own opinions. so in the same way, I'm sure there are readers of this blog who never comment, but it's still nice to know you're out there!
It's also been fascinating to watch the profile of blogs increase and even to break through into the mainstream consciousness. That The Sartorialist has just created his first book with Penguin, Susie Bubble landed a job at Dazed and Confused and the high street is taking notice of the trends that circle the blogs before hitting the streets is all evidence of the evolution of the power of the blog. At the risk of sounding like a Miss America contestant, I feel so proud and constantly invigorated to be part of a network of such creative and aweinspiring people.
