MaKing Love

When there are so many soppy and irritating female songwriters out there, the likes of Joss Stone, Katie Melua and others not worthy of a mention, who have the tendency to de-coolify he image of female musiicans, a crop of superstar lead singers thankfully counteract these acoustic drones and with their wardrobes give two fingers; both in the form of a spice girl girl power revival and in the yeahh check out my wardrobe way.

Roisin Murphy, Natasha Khan and Lovefoxx are all examples of this Superchick.

Now, I'm not about to preach that our Lovefoxx is "one to watch" because quite frankly, she's been a top girl crush of mine (and I'm sure of you) for most of 2007, and if you haven't heard to of the Real Gisele, then pfft, go and read style.com.

Okay, no, don't come back! I didn't mean it, I'm sorry, I shall show you what I'm talking about if you haven't experience The Love yet.

Assaults of glitter, fringing, oversize tees, shiny leggings, skin tight jumpsuits air dunks, and rainbow visuals are all to be expected when the Cansei De Ser Sexy singer is on stage, and you must understand that this is all in an un-arts and crafts way. Judging from the pictures (I'm yet to see her live, though November 5th should roll round the corner nicely) she's bloody good laugh, frollicking around the balloon glad sets, eating cake and crowd surfing.

Part of the coolest coupling ever, (I really can't think of anyone who beat them..) she is engaged to Klaxons' Simon, and they prove that his and her tats shouldn't confined to the likes of Britney and Kevin. I want them round at mine for a good natter and midnight feast now, please.
pictures from lots of great pappers at flickr search.

Someone people we like for talent, others we like for personality. Nothing wrong with that.

This concept of the "Superchick" is really quite interesting. I am thinking about it in feminist terms...thinking, thinking...

Ooh, great article!! Love the photos.

Jeez, how'd you forget Yelle? Big smileys, neon, spandex, and colorful eye catching reeboks. She is on Face Hunter, on a post from maybe 4 days ago.

CSS's "Let's make love" is really a song that makes me happy. Is it just me or is it reminiscing of Tom Tom Club a bit?

urgh Katie Melua i hate her! She cannot dress, you are so right!
I loved wheb Simon Amstell asked someone if they had ever called her Katie Manure
He is so funny!
Roisin Murphy has such amazing style and not in a pretentious way like a lot of other female singers do!

i actually really enjoyed the word you coined them "superchick." it's so absolutely true. i remember watching lily allen in nyc and her flowy dress was absolutely gorgeous. not to mention very flattering on her. i think artists now a days have this aura not only are they judged by their music (which, so much criticism is thrown in) but now they're judged by what their wear, and so much of their personal life.

artists are celebrities like paris hilton or whoever. we don't idolize them or put them on a different level than socialite anymore.

or maybe that's what i think.

ps: Thank you so much for all your nice saying. It seriously made my day.

I was at CSS gig this April, Lovefoxx was amazing, so energetic, and she had layers of T-shirts and she just kept taking them off!

I agree with whoever cited Alison Goldgrapp- any woman who can work a horse's tail (an actual horse's tail) pinned to her behind, deserves my love.
And Lovefoxx is soooo cute. She always looks like she's having so much fun with her clothes..

i must be really out of touch, because i have no idea who katie melua is...and i totally understand about the school work stuff. there will always be celebrities, so we can continue to brainstorm the idea together. i'm not pressed for time...

The Fox is amazing! I saw her live in this tiny venue in a tiny town in Ireland.

It was surreal, I felt her ass when she stage-dived, lol!

She also grabbed my face....I think she was being affectionate because I was wearing this DIY CSS tee....

Lol. Brilliant experience.
