A special message from Mary Kate

Found this on Youtube and its worth a peek if you're in the mood for a little giggle. It was filmed in response to a message to "MK" from "Paris Hilton".

The resemblance is pretty close though? Apart from the fact this girl is probably about 6 stone heavier than the real Ms Olsen.

Newsflash!

Wait, could Victoria have actually taken a step in the right direction?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Surely not? But I think she has actually pulled it off! Apart from maybe the rest fo her outfit. She seems to think that just because shes wearing an idenikit outfit of something Kate Moss wore, that its guaranteed to make her look like a fashion icon.

I love her, but my god, shes trying too hard!

But at least she did good taking a leaf out of the MariaCarla-Selma Twin Book.

Its not often I say this, but now could she just get herself a stylist?

Mad about the Boy

Man!
Why is menswear so great at the moment? It adds a whole new meaning to the word androgenous! Forget dressing like a boy, I want to be a boy! Here are my top picks..

PS, Check it out! Viktor and Rolf modeled their Autumn show themselves. Still can't work out how they got changed quick enough, though?...

Shoe you think I'm Sexy?

Perez says No! No!, I say Yes! Yes... and You?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Fantastic shoes, just a shame about their owner.

They're so great, they look like something you could pick up from a dodgy market stall, but at the same time, could have been paraded down the most prestigious of runways.

I'm guessing it's the latter.

Anyone know whose work of art they are?

NOTE: You never know, these are the kind of shoes I could change my mind about very quickly, so this post may be deleted eithin a couple of days. Ha...

It's starting!

It's starting! Pop star Sophie Ellis Bextor took a leaf out of Sienna's book last night when she made an appearance at G-A-Y in London last night in a a pair of glitzy Chanel pants! Channelling a Madonna meets Dorothy look in a red leotard and matching red slipper heels.

I like the fact that Sophie braved the look, although I don't think she pulled it off quite as well as Ms Miller (Though that would have been quite an accomplishment!)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Whos going to be next to jump on the bandwagon? I'm feeling the LA It Clan? Lindsay and Nicole, and maybe even the Olsens worn with their fur! I can't wait to see how this look translates onto the High Streets. Hahaha...

The new frenzy has Karl Lagerfeld and Miuccia Prada to thank. Wonder what they think of the coverage?

Pop is my hot hot sex

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
In the words of Cansei de ser Sexy, "Music Pop is my hot hot sex"

The way I see it as that the generation of magazines that include Dazed and Confused, i-D, POP! and NYLON is like the modern day magazine version of the Bronte family! They're influential, eyecatching and well, very "family" feeling.

And although many of these glossies have been in circulation for as long as I've been alive, it seems to me that its only now that they're finally being recognised as the cooler, cheekier, more fun and more youthful alternative to the likes of Vogue, Harpers etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid reader of Vogue but I find it easy to become disillusioned by the fact that its a little unaccessable and seems to carry a policy of only featuring the richest and most privelaged women in their interviews. I can't imagine Alexandra Shulman or Wintour doing a shoot of Courtney Love nude or featuring an interview with Miss Piggy...

Praise POP!

EDIT: As regards the homemade moontage at the top, sorry about the bad quality...I'm working on it!

The end of an era: When Trailer Trash Chic turned V for Vendetta.

It seems that Britney has finally hit rock bottom!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We've all been watching her party with Paris and co, but I really didn't think it would get this bad. I feel bad for Britney, because I think she'll figure out during this that Paris isn't the friend she thought she was. I can't imagine her being there to support her, infact I can imagine her just laughing about the whole thing.

In a moment of self destruction she shaved all her hair off saying "I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everybody touching me"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Britney was spotted in a tattoo parlour afterwards, getting a pair of lips inked onto her right wrist.

I feel very sorry for Britney indeed! One word pops to mind: Rehab.

Extreme Makeover?

Having spent a while trying to get my head around the updated blogger (I'd been putting it off for a while!) I've just updated the Discotheque Confusion page.

Wanted to know what you all think, as I'm still not sure and I think I'll have to resign myself to the fact that its a work in progress!

So any thoughts on the colour scheme? The swap from the spotted background to the plain one?

I'd appriciate any feedback!

Hope you're all well, S xx

It's gettin hot in herrrre!

For me, this whole picture was a learning curve.

Street Style Bitch!

First of all, apologies to these two girls for not having posted this sooner....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I came across these two "pretties" in my local topshop, and loved their looks, and, excuse the cheese, their lovely smiles! Both quite different, but equally interesing.

In the haste of the moment, I forgot to ask their names, so lets have a bit of fun and think of them as Miss X (left) and Miss Z (right)!

Miss X reworks classroom chic by pairing a modern pinafore style dress with a cute cropped plaid coat. For a wintery air, she does Zooey Deschanel proud in a pair of opaques.

I like the way Miss Z supersizes her portions with an oversized v neck, and looks effortless in the process! Playing mermaids with a shell necklace is a good way to add a bit of seaside nostalgia, and dream about summer coming back!

Opinions?

um...

yoga?

Well, whatever she's doin, shes "doinn goood"! In cute pants, a baggy boyfriend tee and white rayban wayfarers, she's looking like the lovechild of Kiki and Chloe, whilst rocking the Carrie Bradshaw bed look.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I wish I had a pool in Mexico to pose beside!

Also, what do you all think about the whole knickers/pants as outerwear thing?
Its occured to me that Sienna and Ashley may have sparked something? I like the idea for catwalks, celebrities and scenesters, though I don't think I could quite get away with it on the streets of Bristol...

Though, judging by the antics the Skins kids get up to....mmm

Fashion Smashion: London Special

London Fashion Week

Sunday 11th February

Post Feature: Topshop Unique
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I was a little disappointed by the topshop unique collection, because it seemed to be trying to incorporate too many different styles into the collection. Folkish knitted coats meet sharp, androgenous high waisted trousers and navy jumpsuits. Liltte house on the praire folklore plays with sharp city girl suits. And I couldn't help but notice that the chunky wooden heels and opaques were reminisent of the Chloe Autumn 06 collection.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

However, although at first, I thought there were too many different colours used I love all of them individually; the rich autumnal red and purples and the olive bubble sleeved coat are lovely, and the vivid blue used in the following three outfits is a stand out for me. I would love all three of the outfits, if it wasn't for the fact that the first reminds me of the tight, angle grazing velvet trousers my Media Studies teacher, and I'm sure that Topshop aren't after my 50 something teacher as a muse for their collection!

Topshop Unique Key Looks

High Waisted trousers and jumpsuits (circa Topshop Unique Spring 07)
Chunky circular belts
Chloe-esque wooden shoes
Contrast of earthy tones with rich purples and reds
Sleeves- (I'm a big fan of all the different types!) ruched, capped,
bell shaped...shall I continue?

Ben de Lisi steered his collection in the Grungey Glam by mixing sexy low necklines, flowing skirts and metallics with gothy opaques, vampire collared coats and boots that were the love children shoes of Dr Marten and Giles incorporating clunky attitude with gold spikey cuffs.

Mixtapes Rule OK!

Hey everyone, sorry for the spaces in between posts that seem to be growing longer and longer...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

so heres a little note to say hi, and to let those who have asked, know the playlist for my mix on this page. Some little blurbs are added for context!

1. The first song is one of my favourites and is called Writer's Block by Peter, Bjorn and John, a trio from Stockholm who make refreshingly un-euro-cheese-pop music. Later recognised this when watching the Chanel Spring 2007 Collection video, so the Kaiser is a fan too!

2. Girl by Beck. I first heard this being played on a new music show in the evenings two summers ago, and I love the cute, catchy, carefree tune that seemed to compliment the summer perfectly.

3. Ahh. Adventure by one of my favourite bands, Be Your Own Pet. From nashville, they're like the cast of skins but a lot cooler. All under the age of 20, they make music beyond their years, and lead Jemma Pearl was on the NME Cool List of 2005.

4. Standing in the way of control by The Gossip. Beth Ditto! Watch this space. This cookie baking, sized twentied, lesbian style icon will be pushing Nicole and co to the sidelines this year. Well. We can hope...

5. The Start of Something by Voxtrot- The sweetest, young romantic track I've heard. Makes me want to fall in love in spring.

6. Pop the Glock by Uffie. Miami and Paris scenekid. Love her humorous and daring lyrics that sound great alongside her posh sounding cylables and crunkin beats. aiii

7. Umbrellahead by The Mystery Jets. From a place called Eel Pie Island and containing two generations, the Mystery Jets are Mystery by name and Mystery by nature. This song is so sweet, love the piano and horse references.

8. Salvador by Jamie T- Wimbledon's raggamuffin lays down such a tuuune is the form of Salvador. Guaranteed to get all the indie girls dancing with the boys.

9. Family Conference from The Squid and The Whale soundtrack. After watching this film and enjoying its dazey, 80's soundtrack, I wanted to finish the mix on a soft note that reminds me of nostalgic and surreal moments ala Almost Famous.

rowing up in Carine's household does for you..

Go ahead Punk, make my day!

I'm all for reinventions. Its the pure method that Madonna's career relies on!

But this is one reinvention I'm not keen on. Punk?*

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Want to know why? Its what all the chavvy girls in my year are doing at the moment! I have never understood the attraction of red hightlights, and I'm sorry if any of you fall into this category, but I've never seen it pulled off successfully.

I think Rachel should take a leaf out of Cameron's book and go back to dark. I love her and I blonde locks, but I think it creates the tendency of making her look like yet another blonde hollywood star.

See how much classier she looks here!? Oh well, at least shes not another Zoebot. Now that would be tedious.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*PS, sorry to any Vivienne Westwood enthusiasts who will insist that this isn't punk. But it kind of is in Hollywood!

Do I know you?...

Similarities, anyone?

Made me laugh out loud when I saw this picture of Iekeiline because it reminded me so much of Olive from Little Miss Sunshine.

Still can't decide who's cooler...?
